The brief  //  A stoneware vase

This winter, Habitat invites you to discover - or rediscover - some of today's most talented designers.  Everyone has taken part: the POOL studio, the A+A studio, Joachim Jirou-Najou and the Habitat Design Studio.

Traditional, dated, old hat? Not at all! The designers who worked on this project certainly didn't take their inspiration from their grandmothers' vases. With their pared down, sculpted and original designs, these designers have created a collection of unique vases for Habitat.

Combined or mixed and matched, these all-white vases will make a subtle statement of style in your home.

1. Cocoon vase // A+A

Both graduates of the Ecole Camondo in Paris, Aki and Arnaud Cooren founded the A+A Cooren Design Studio in 1999. Their work is both sober and poetic revealing its Japanese and Nordic roots. In each of their projects, whether designing the smallest of everyday items or in their interior design work, the couple seeks to subtly integrate elements of nature. This autumn, the talented pair have designed a vase exclusively for Habitat.

2. Dew Vase // Joachim Jirou-Najou

Joachim Jirou-Najou graduated from the Ecole Supérieure d’Art et de Design in Reims and then the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. He worked with Pierre Charpin between 2004 and 2012 and was named one of 2010's top ten designers at the "Now! design à vivre" salon. This recognition gave him the opportunity to work for the Issey Miyake brand. He is also designing a "Note Book", which will be produced by Les Trois Ourses. Now working independently, Joachim Jirou-Najou has agreed to design an exclusive vase for Habitat's 2013 autumn-winter collection - the Dew vase.

3. Funnel Vases // POOL Studio

The POOL Studio was set up in 2010 by two French designers. Their work is marked by double meanings, which go beyond the appearance of the object, its beauty and its function. POOL was named "New Designer 2013" by Elle Decoration in England. For the 2013 autumn-winter collection, the two designers created a pair of Funnel vases exclusively for Habitat.

4. Coleop Vase // Habitat Design Studio

Directed by Pierre Favresse, the Habitat Design Studio is a place of permanent creativity. Born in 1979, Pierre Favresse attended the Ecole Boulle and then the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. He founded his own studio in 2010 after five years working as a designer and then running an agency. This year, the Studio has commissioned a 2013 autumn-winter collection focusing on materials and new uses in the home. A home where we can recharge our batteries and which is open to the outside and inside alike.
