Hyères 2015

Double celebration at the Villa Noailles!

The famous villa designed by Robert Mallet Stevens is celebrating  its 90th anniversary.

The Hyères Fashion and Photography Festival is celebrating  its 30th anniversary.

Between 1923 and 1925, Charles and Marie-Laure de Noailles, patrons of the arts, commissioned Robert Mallet Stevens to design the famous villa that bears their name. This massive building was one of the very first modernist style buildings and exhibits the founding tenets of the rationalist movement of which Mallet Stevens was a key proponent.

In line with its owners wishes, the 1,800m² villa decorated throughout by prominent designers of the day, has welcomed designers and artists and since 1996 it has hosted the Hyères Fashion and Photography Festival, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. This totally unique event aims to showcase new talents and has become one of the most important events of its kind. Each year, the highly prestigious Hyères jury nominates two winners (one fashion and one from photography) not only paying tribute to their work but also giving them exceptional visibility.

This year, Habitat, which has been promoting bold and inventive designs since 1964, is proud to be a festival partner. To celebrate Villa Noailles' 90th anniversary, during the festival we are exhibiting re-editions of Mallet Stevens' chairs and armchairs with their pure, timeless, beautiful and functional designs. We are extremely proud to be able to present Mallet Stevens' iconic furniture in this amazing space that he designed and in the context of this prestigious event.
